    Mini Bio

Two things I’ve always loved are being outdoors and having a good natter. Guiding is where those two passions come together.

Originally from Cornwall and now based in the Lake District, I love wild places, slow journeys, and spending time noticing the quieter details of the outdoors — the changing seasons, birdsong, wild foods, local folklore and learning to identify trees.

I’m fascinated by the ways people once lived more closely with nature, and much of my free time is spent developing traditional outdoor skills, learning to notice the landscape in greater detail. Whether it’s identifying birds by their calls, cooking over a fire, foraging for wild foods or spending a few days living in the woods, I’m always happiest when I’m learning something new from nature.

My travels have taken me across Latin America, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East, often through hitchhiking and slow travel, experiences that have shaped my appreciation for human connection, storytelling, and the generosity of strangers.

When I’m not guiding, I’m usually planning my next adventure, exploring new places, or finding an excuse to get outdoors.

    Favourite Place to Play

As a born and bred Cornish maid, nothing beats Cornwall’s sandy shores and rocky cliffs. With a flask in hand, I like to search for hidden coves for the perfect tranquil spot. This quest might be what ignited my explorer spirit.

Not a lot of People Know This

I hitchhiked from India to Denmark, getting lifts from hundreds of strangers along the way, including a horse and cart, an ambulance, a tractor and even a few police trucks.

I am an avid hitchhiker; my longest journey was 15,000km from Myanmar to Denmark, shortly before the Covid lockdown. I’ve been dreaming of another long distance trip ever since – if you have any ideas, I’d love to hear them!

What Fellow Travellers Say About Zoe

Zoe was exceptional. She made the trip very pleasant, giving individual attention to all the patrons, while keeping in mind the needs and requirements of the entire group. Her smiling and positive demeanor kept everyone's spirits high even on days with longer hikes. She is very knowledgeable about the area, it's people, places, and nature, always sharing a lot of information as we went along and visited places. She ensured that we were never rushed and yet made up time well and covered everything that was promised. She added lot of fun and surprise elements like the English tea and the pub quiz, which were a lot of fun. Overall Zoe was a total joy to have as our guide!

Zoe was an outstanding guide!, She led us with confidence along largely unmarked paths, spoke to and listened to every member if the group during our walks, drove with expertise and her parking technique in tight situations was admirable. She was entertaining, organised little surprises for us each day and made our trip a lot of fun. Even though my husband and I are 79 years old, Zoe made us feel at ease with the younger members on the tour.

Zoe was wonderful. Driving, flexibility, thinking of ways to enhance our trip, parking, timing, organization skills, attitude, professional, accommodating to each of us. She made it a vacation for me as she handled all the details on the side.

Zoe was such a wonderful guide! Cheerful, fun, professional, helpful, respectful, ensured that everyone collectively and individually was managing each day and adjusted the itinerary where and if necessary. She had great advice and was such a pleasure to travel with. Our fellow walkers were absolutely the perfect mix and we found so many things in common and I feel that our guide did a brilliant job and helping us get to know each other. Absolutely a brilliant experience all around.
