      Self-guided walking holidays in England are the perfect blend of immersion in England’s magical landscapes, hiking at your own pace and the freedom to explore anything of interest along the way without the feeling that you’re holding anyone else up.

      Let Us Take Care of The Details

      On a Wilderness England self-guided tour, you might be walking on your own but you’ve got the support of 24-hour assistance from the office team. We also provide you with route notes, maps and luggage transfer arranged in advance. Each route has been painstakingly researched and organised to take in the very best of the region. Our self-guided itineraries make sure to acquaint you with the area’s history and sites of interest.

      Journey from the doors of one cosy accommodation to another, each offering a warm welcome after a lovely day on the trail. Long-distance walking trails like Hadrian’s Wall and The Cotswolds Way are renowned for their natural and cultural beauty and are particular favourites.

      You certainly don’t need to be an expert hiker to take on a self-guided holiday, however, you do need to be more self-reliant. To book any of these trips, you must be travelling with at least one other person. If you are travelling on your own, we hope that you will be interested in joining one of our small group guided walking holidays.

              This was our second self guided hiking trip. The first was in Scotland with Wilderness Scotland and was beautiful because of the stark nature of the countryside. Hiking the Cotswold Way was very different, the incredible views of the sheep dotted countryside, fields filled with wildflowers and forests with huge trees was awe inspiring. The people we met along the way were very friendly and helpful. We stayed in small village inns for the most part and they were clean, and comfortable. Wilderness England did a fantastic job setting us up for a trip of a lifetime.

              We loved the experience of walking Hadrian's Way. The scenery and varied terrain was wonderful. The walking was strenuous in parts. The accommodation was mostly good and the information and pre-departure support from Wilderness England was excellent. This was my third trip with them and I would highly recommend them.
