What Makes Our Bike Tours Special

Our English cycling holidays offer a rewarding and thoroughly enjoyable way to discover the beautiful landscapes, layered history and vibrant local culture of England and Wales. We run both road cycling and E-biking trips to suit a wide range of abilities, from confident riders to those who prefer a more leisurely pace. With stunning scenery, quiet lanes and picture-book villages along the way, we take the complexity out of planning by taking care of every detail.

With everything arranged in advance and led by guides who are warm, kind and knowledgeable, our English cycling tours allow you to make the most of your time in the UK. Two experienced cycling guides accompany each bike trip, taking care of everything from luggage transfers and daily weather updates to excellent food, storytelling and local insight. Bike hire/rental is included in all trip prices, so you can focus entirely on enjoying the journey.

Crafted by our expert trip designers, our cycling tours weave together carefully chosen routes, memorable viewpoints, cultural points of interest, and cosy accommodation. Small group sizes create a more personal atmosphere, allowing time to connect with both your guides and the places you pass through. With a thoughtfully curated collection of cycling tours to choose from, all that remains for you to do is enjoy the ride.

    Fully Guided Read More

All our cycling trips are led by experienced guides who ensure each day runs smoothly, allowing you to focus on the ride and the landscapes around you. Travelling in small groups and often following point-to-point routes, you’ll enjoy a strong sense of progression as you pedal through changing scenery.

One guide cycles with the group each day, while a second guide travels in a nearby support vehicle, ready to assist as needed with refreshments, mechanical support, or a lift if required. Each day begins with a clear route briefing, while bike computers and pre-programmed maps give you the freedom to ride at your own pace or pedal as part of a friendly group.

From coordinating accommodation and meals to managing logistics behind the scenes, as well as providing context, culture and storytelling along the route, our guides take care of every detail, creating a relaxed, well-supported cycling experience from start to finish.

We’ll Sweat the Details Read More

While all our trips are led by qualified and experienced guides, a great deal of planning takes place long before you arrive. Designed with local knowledge and passion for the regions they explore, every one of our cycling trips is carefully shaped to balance well-paced riding with historical points of interest and opportunities to learn more about the landscapes and cultures you’re pedalling through.

While your cycling guide will accompany you as you pedal, a support guide will manage the practicalities, transferring luggage between accommodations and carrying drinks and snacks so you can ride light and comfortably. Assistance is always close at hand should you need it. You’ll also receive clear, detailed route notes for every ride, giving you the freedom to cycle with the group or ride independently, regrouping at planned points throughout the day.

Evenings are given the same level of attention. We select welcoming, independent hotels and carefully chosen places to eat, with reservations arranged in advance, allowing you to relax over good food and reflect on the day’s riding, ready for what lies ahead.

    Bring Your Own Bike

You are also more than welcome to bring your own bike. If you’re bringing your E-bike along for the trip, please ensure it has a removable battery. Due to limitations around charging, E-bikes with non-removable batteries cannot be accommodated.

If you choose to do so, please ensure it’s in excellent working condition and has been recently serviced – either by you or by a reputable bike shop.

In addition, please bring the following:

    • Multi-tool, including a chain tool
    • Mini pump and/or CO2 canisters
    • Two spare tubes and a puncture repair kit

Because we will need to load your bike onto one of our trailers, please ensure that:

    • Your rear wheel is clear of any obstructions; including lights, mudguard or panniers
    • Your tyres are no wider than 45mm

Due to the nature of our trips, we are unfortunately unable to carry bike boxes or bags with us, so please make prior arrangements if necessary.

If you have any questions at all, don’t hesitate to get in touch. Our friendly and knowledgeable sales team are always delighted to answer any queries you may have.

    Authentic Local Connections

Travel is about more than just the places you visit—it’s about the people you meet along the way. From a welcoming chat with a B&B owner who knows the best hidden trails to the stories shared over a hearty pub meal, these connections bring a more profound sense of place to your journey. We’ve built strong relationships with an incredible network of local businesses, meaning every stop along the way is filled with warmth, authenticity and a true taste of the region.

    Unique and Off-the-Beaten-Path Experiences

England and Wales are brimming with breathtaking landscapes, each destination with its own story to tell. Our English cycling tours take you beyond the well-trodden routes, revealing hidden gems and unexpected delights.

One moment, you might be pedalling around a quiet bend to discover a sweeping view over a verdant valley; the next, you could be riding through an ancient forest or stopping at a secluded RSPB nature reserve teeming with birdlife. Whether tracing the rugged coastline or following winding country lanes, every ride is filled with moments of beauty and discovery.

For those with an eye on the skies, the UK’s national parks—like Northumberland and Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons)—offer some of the darkest night skies in the country, making for breathtaking stargazing. Or, if you prefer to keep your gaze on the road ahead, the Yorkshire Dales lets you quite literally ‘cycle through time’ with its dramatic limestone formations and ancient geological wonders. From the wild landscapes of Eryri (Snowdonia) to the rolling charm of the Cotswolds, England and Wales are playgrounds for cyclists seeking something truly special.

    Ride Your Own Way

Our itineraries are designed to adapt to you, ensuring you get the best out of every ride. Do you love the challenge of lung-busting climbs and thrilling descents? Your guide will be right there with you, pushing the pace. Would you prefer a gentler ride? Take things at your own speed, or hop into the support van when you fancy a break.

E-bikes add another layer of flexibility, making it easy for mixed-ability riders to enjoy an adventure together. If you’re keen to tackle a road cycling trip but your companion prefers a little extra boost, an E-bike (available as an upgrade) lets everyone ride side by side and enjoy the journey without limits. The Benefits of Small Groups

Cycling with a small group transforms a great trip into something truly special. Our guided tours keep numbers low to create a more personal, immersive experience—one where you’re not just part of a group but part of a shared adventure.

With fewer riders, our guides can tailor the experience to the group’s interests and abilities, making every day feel more like a private tour. From a practical perspective, smaller groups mean smoother logistics, seamless transitions and a more relaxed, enjoyable atmosphere. And, more often than not, the friendships formed on these rides last long after the final pedal stroke—many of our guests return year after year, reuniting for another adventure together.

    Sustainability and Responsible Travel

Our cycling adventures prove that responsible travel doesn’t mean compromising on experience. Our trips are carefully designed to minimise environmental impact, support local businesses and celebrate the landscapes we cherish. By choosing to pedal through the countryside rather than drive, you’re already taking a step towards a lower-carbon adventure. But sustainability goes far beyond just the mode of travel. Whether exploring with Wilderness England, Wilderness Ireland or Wilderness Scotland, we take a holistic approach to ensuring that our trips positively impact people and places.

What Responsible Travel Means to Us

Travel is an incredible privilege, offering the chance to experience breathtaking places, engage with different cultures and form lasting connections. But with that privilege comes responsibility. While flying is sometimes unavoidable, we encourage travellers to make the most of their time once they arrive—staying longer, combining trips and making each journey as meaningful as possible. As a company, we have long been recognised as a leader in sustainable travel, and we’re continuously evolving to find new ways to reduce our impact while enhancing the travel experience.

    A Thoughtful Approach to Travel

Sustainability doesn’t mean sacrificing an incredible experience. In fact, we believe it enhances it. By travelling responsibly, we protect the landscapes we love and create more immersive and authentic adventures. Whether cycling along quiet backroads or tackling mountain passes, you can ride with the confidence that your journey is designed to be as low-impact and meaningful as possible.

Leading the Way in Sustainable Travel

Sustainability isn’t just a buzzword for us—it’s at the core of our operations. We are one of the few adventure travel companies committed to the Science Based Targets initiative (SBTi), working towards true net zero with rigorous, science-backed goals. From measuring and reducing the carbon impact of each trip to investing in conservation, our approach ensures that responsible travel is at the heart of every itinerary.

Our holidays reviewed in your own words...

Every client receives a feedback survey when they return from their guided, self guided or tailor made holiday with us. Once completed the review is published on our website just as soon as our database updates. The little touches and details are important to us and where issues are raised we make positive changes to our trips to improve your experience.

That’s why we read each of our client’s reviews and although we don’t respond to all of them, if it’s glowing feedback then we get the satisfaction of helping to make your holidays truly memorable.
