    The Bottom Line

    The Bottom Line

Our excursion was the eleven day “Highlights of Ireland,” superbly led by Jacquie Lynskey. This tour moves in a counterclockwise direction around Ireland, involving the perfect mix of hiking, history, castles, famous locales, while staying at first-rate accommodations and eating excellent meals. Jacquie is a flowing resource of Irish history, mythology and folklore and is justifiably proud of her Country and its achievements. She is friendly, engaging, organized and prepared us well, whether it was for a hike, tour or with one of the local guides. Each hike was unique, mostly in wildland and a couple city walking tours. Wildland hikes were all beautiful and of modest length and difficulty, ranging from three to six miles and totaling about 35 miles over the eleven days. Trails were very good going, while a couple had short sections requiring caution with step ups and downs on somewhat uneven rocks. The Giant's Causeway and The Kerry Way within Killarney National Park are especially memorable. The trip excelled in providing a comprehensive look at Ireland, its history, geology and landscapes. A beautiful Country, complex history, friendly people, while showing great promise for the future.

    The Bottom Line

    The Bottom Line

Highly recommend Wilderness Ireland. We really enjoyed all the hikes we went on. They were actually better than we had expected, and more challenging (which we really enjoyed). In any communication to possible clients, it should be made clear that the hikes can be a bit challenging depending on one’s physical abilities. I think the brochure info does explain the physical fitness needed but some of the hikes might be rated too low considering the terrain. This was not a problem for us, thankfully, but may be for some who would not expect this. The places we visited and the hikes we enjoyed were all so beautiful, the history and folklore of Ireland we found to be fascinating, generating a desire to learn more. Again, thank you so much for a great experience!

    The Bottom Line

Really enjoyed the 11-day trip. I had such a hard time deciding what part of Ireland to visit and this trip made it possible to see and experience so much. I have a much deeper appreciation for Ireland - its landscape, history and culture!
