Pre-Trip Service
Rendezvous exact location for the meet-up with the guides was ambiguous in e-mail, resulting in a delay to departure though it did not affect the rest of the day's timetable.
Trip Comments
Our Tour of the Borders 2022 was a great experience and very enjoyable, despite the variable weather.
Our guides worked tirelessly to ensure good briefings and all-day support on the trip.
Accommodation & Food
One hotel at which we arrived sodden after a rain shower did not start their central heating until 1830 local time which was problematical when trying to dry off wet clothing.
They did however have a drying room somewhere in the hotel, but I feel this is not the best solution on arrival, chilled and in need of thawing out.
Your Guide
I cannot speak too highly of our guides who, as mentioned previously, went the extra mile literally and metaphorically to support our group of 7, most of whom were unfamiliar with British roads.
They were always there to negotiate crossing of major (fast) routes and/or potentially confusing road junctions as well as providing frequent welcome 'tea breaks'.
This support provided a sensation of security and of not being 'left out of sight' if separated from the pack for any reason.
The Bottom Line
I waited 2 years to participate in this tour, due to national restrictions, I'm glad I persisted and thoroughly enjoyed the experience.
It was overall a very well executed cycling holiday, my first ever as a 'senior citizen'!
