Originally hailing from the remote mountainous region of Suffolk, I moved south and west some eight years ago to attempt claims on multiple first ascents in the county of Somerset. Having found them all claimed, I continued my employment in far-flung adventures, leading winter and summer expeditions worldwide.  Bears and wolves were tracked, mountains cycled over, seas kayaked, lakes canoed across, rapids were rafted down and many a path was trodden. I thoroughly enjoy walking very long distances and partaking in a well-earned beer afterwards.

Suffolk, because no one seems to have discovered how stunning it is.

Long distance walks are my favourite. I recently finished the Tour du Mont Blanc, also Offas Dyke, The Continental Divide, the Pacific Crest Trail, Hadrian’s Wall, Peddar’s Way, and the Camino (in between walking work). On the cards next is the Arizona trail and Lands End to John O’groats, which will be my poodle, Winnie’s, first big adventure.

What Fellow Travellers Say About Astrid

Astrid was AMAZING in every way! I’d love to have another trip with her as our guide.

Astrid was undoubtedly the Special Sauce to our trip. She was amazing. Her driving was historic, getting our van down windy roads, and parking in incredibly tight spots. And she really excelled at making each of us - with extremely disparate levels of hiking ability and interest - feel like we got our perfect Cotswolds walking experience. This was no small accomplishment. She managed us with warmth, personal service, humor and confidence. I feel we were incredibly lucky to have her as our guide. I would sign up for another walking trip with her in a heartbeat. She's a wonder.

Astrid did a wonderful job navigating and informing us about our hikes.

Astrid was perfect, helpful, knowledgeable, fun to talk to and a spectacular driver on all those narrow roads.
