    Mini Bio

In my ‘previous life, I was a computer programmer for 20-odd years – I was not as nerdy as some of my colleagues, honest! I spent every day of my spare time and holidays on walking holidays and adventures, both in the UK and all over the world.

In 2018, I switched to guiding and have loved every second of it! I especially like meeting so many different people with different outlooks.

    Favourite Place to Play

I’m lucky to live in Cornwall, just a short stroll from the South West Coast Path and a 2 mile long sandy beach. I love walking the Cornish coast in all weathers, especially if there’s a proper pub, a pasty, or a cream tea at the end of it (preferably all 3, please).

Not a lot of People Know This

One of my earliest adventures was climbing Helvellyn in the Lake District with my mum back in 1992 – we had no idea and no gear, but we got to the top and back down again in one piece. Our rubbish shoes meant we had to slide down on our bums on all the steep bits, pretending we were admiring the view whenever someone came past. I knew then that I had to go straight back up another mountain but with proper boots and a bit more knowledge!

I’ve visited loads of amazing destinations all over the world. I think my favourite was a four week trip to Nepal trekking to the base camps of Kangchenjunga. Twenty-one nights of camping, only a handful of other trekkers, and only one shower the whole trip – it makes me really appreciate staying in nice hotels now! I still get excited about an en-suite bathroom, although you can’t beat the sight of the stars on a nighttime walk to the toilet tent 4000m up in the Himalayas when it’s -15 degrees.

What Fellow Travellers Say About Louise

Can't say enough great things about Louise. Her energy and enthusiasm were contagious. She was encouraging and caring. We missed her the night she wasn't with us.

Louise gave me confidence! She took us to wonderful places. She made lemonade from lemons (encouraging us to appreciate that we were getting the full flavor of Cornwall when we hiked through a torrential rain that left all our boots soaked).

Louise is calm, pleasant, helpful and organized. She went out of her way to make everyone feel comfortable regardless of their fitness level. Louise accommodated everyone's schedule for leaving the tour on the final day. She followed up after the trip with great pictures and information. I would not change one thing about her.

The bar has now been set entirely too high by our precious Louise. We all loved her so much that we would love to take her on all our trips. She was incredible - knowledgeable, flexible, answering our every whim. We could not have asked for a better guide,
