      Over five relaxing days in the peaceful heart of the Lake District, this thoughtfully curated women-only retreat offers the chance to slow down and recharge surrounded by beautiful scenery.

      Designed to offer the perfect balance of movement and stillness, the retreat pairs enriching activities with time to breathe. Morning yoga practices set the tone for mindful exploration, while gentle walks, canoe journeys and cold-water swimming encourage a deeper connection with the natural world.

      With a small group of like-minded women, unwind with shared meals and good conversation. Whether walking up a classic Lake District fell, paddling on the mirrored surface of Coniston Water or chatting in the evening light, discover the calm that comes from being fully present and surrounded by nature.

      Day 1 – Arrive in the Lakes & Grizedale Forest Read Less

      Arrive in the Lakes & Grizedale Forest

      This morning, meet your guide at Oxenholme Railway Station. After a short transfer into the heart of the Lake District, have a relaxed café lunch, chatting with your fellow travellers. Ease into the retreat this afternoon with a lovely walk through Grizedale Forest. Follow a trail past old trees and interesting sculptures, taking the time to practise forest bathing – a mindful way to connect with the woods and begin to slow down. Later, arrive at your accommodation, a beautifully situated historic property. After settling in, gather for a delicious, freshly prepared dinner.

      Morning Yoga & Wild Swimming

      Begin your day with a restorative yoga practice in a peaceful studio in the grounds, led by an experienced instructor. Designed to go beyond movement alone, the session offers time to explore the philosophy behind the practice, helping to bring a deeper sense of awareness and calm. After a relaxed lunch, travel to the shores of Coniston Water for an introduction to open water swimming. Led by a qualified local guide, the session includes in-water coaching and an understanding of the wellbeing benefits of cold water immersion. Feeling energised and refreshed, head back to your accommodation for dinner.

      Old Man of Coniston & Evening Soundbath

      After breakfast, set out for a guided walk up the Old Man of Coniston, the rugged fell that can be seen outside the window. With its craggy ridgelines, dark tarns and sweeping views over lush green valleys, this classic Lake District route offers a rewarding sense of achievement. After returning from the hills, take some time for yourself. Later tonight, wind down with an evening sound bath–a deeply relaxing session using gongs, bowls and drums to ease the body and quiet the mind. Ideal after a day exploring, it’s a lovely way to bring the night to a close.

      Open Canoeing and Yoga

      Today, enjoy a morning paddle as you explore the beautiful, smooth waters of Coniston by canoe. Accompanied by an expert guide, learn more about paddling and the history of the lake, with stops along the way to stretch your legs. If the weather allows, come ashore at Brantwood House (once home to 19th century writer John Ruskin) for a cool drink or hot coffee, accompanied by picturesque views. In the afternoon, return to the mat for a calming yoga session, allowing your body to unwind after the morning’s activity. With space to move, it’s an ideal way to restore focus and energy before dinner.

      Exploring Rusland Valley & Depart

      On the final morning of the retreat, head out for a scenic circular walk that explores Rusland Valley–a hidden corner of the Lake District often missed by visitors. Thread your way through peaceful woodlands to the banks of High Dam, and from there, break onto the open fell, taking in the views that steadily unfold in front of you. Known for its tranquillity, this is a lovely walk to finish your time in the Lakes. After the hike, hop in with your guide and transfer to Oxenholme Railway Station, where your retreat will conclude.

      Green graded walking holidays are suitable for active travellers who are reasonably fit and enjoy moderate hikes. We walk at a comfortable pace and you can expect to be out for 5-6 hours a day. The terrain will be mostly good paths and hill trails but these can still be muddy and rough in places. Some hikes may involve an ascent up to a max of approx 1,500 ft / 450m. Distances will be typically 8-10km / 5-6 miles. Daily hike details are available in the itinerary.

      Your Guide will meet you at Oxenholme Railway Station at 10.30am on Day 1 of your trip.

      You will be returned to Oxenholme Railway Station at 3:00pm on the final day of your trip.

      Oxenholme is a small rural station, but it’s an important junction on the West Coast Main Line and trains frequently run to London, Manchester, Glasgow, and Edinburgh.

      There is the possibility of being picked up and dropped off in the market town of Kendal, which is approximately 10 minutes from Oxenholme. Please let our friendly sales team know if you’d like to do this, and they will confirm the timings and location.
