Mini Bio

I got my first pair of hiking boots (against my will!) when I was 14 years old. After an accidental epic on the Isle of Arran on their first outing, I was hooked and I’ve been exploring the UK’s wild places ever since. Having graduated from university with a law degree, I spent time travelling in Latin America and Africa. I loved being in those places – but it also made me realise what fantastic places we have at home, here in the UK. My first job was in environmental policy with the civil service – at that time, a career in adventure travel seemed like a pipe dream. However, I made the leap to follow my passion and now have over 20 years of experience working in the adventure travel industry. I still need to pinch myself sometimes to make sure it’s real!

I love adventures in the outdoors so think that I have the best job in the world. Having spent countless days exploring the UK’s wild and not-so-wild places on foot, by bike, by kayak, canoe, on skis and by car, I feel that I know my way around the country better than most people. I’ve climbed most of the highest peaks and many more of the smaller ones too. Long ago I gave up counting how many islands I’ve visited. And I love seeking out country roads and perfect climbs on my road bike. Of course, I also have my black book of top hotels and special accommodations around the country!

Having lived in several big cities, I’m now based in Cairngorms National Park – what a treat for someone who loves the great outdoors! While I used to spend most of my time guiding, I now get creative in the office, designing customised adventure holidays for all kinds of clients. It’s a privilege to be able to craft an experience which creates a meaningful impact on people and which leaves them with special memories. I hope I can do the same for you sometime!

Favourite Place to Play

The coastline of Northumberland – the beaches are incredible, the perfect place for a breezy morning walk. Just inland, you can discover a network of tiny roads which wind through the stunning landscape, just made for cycling. And at the end of the day, there are so many great pubs to kick back in and reward yourself!

Not a lot of People Know This

I got married on a beach in Assynt. Our wedding photos are amazing!
