Mini Bio
I taught for 32 years at a school in Dorset. Throughout that time, I was involved in, and responsible for, the Outdoor Education Department. At various times, this included leading the Duke of Edinburgh Award Scheme, Ten Tors Training, kayaking, surfing and Adventurous Training (as part of the CCF). Over the years, I organised several Adventurous/Mountain charity challenges. I have always enjoyed sharing my love of the outdoors with others.
Place to Play
Gosh! I am happy surf kayaking on Cornwall’s north coast, wild camping and hiking on Dartmoor, and rock climbing in the Peak District. I also enjoy climbing mountains in Scotland when I get the chance.
Not a lot of people know this
It is no secret that I have always enjoyed being in the great outdoors, an enjoyment that started at school. People might not know that one of my most memorable early trips, to the Bannau Brycheiniog (Brecon Beacons) in Wales, did not quite go according to plan. In particularly windy conditions, our leader’s glasses blew off and our map flew away – we found the glasses, but we never did find that map!
